Protection and Management of Species and Natural Habitats

The preservation of wildlife and plants depends on the conservation of their habitats, which are sources of life and also provide numerous benefits to our societies. The LIFE Biodiv’Est project contributes to enhancing the sustainable and integrated preservation of natural areas and their biodiversity through several complementary actions, co-developed with local stakeholders.

LIFE Biodiv’Est is committed to preserving natural areas and their biodiversity

 By establishing or enlarging 10 regional nature reserves in partnership with willing territories, we ensure the sustainable protection of sites of significant ecological value against the multiple pressures they encounter.

 By developing 10 regional action plans focused on threatened species and natural habitats and working closely with the experts who know them best, such as those specialising in wood grouse, aquatic molluscs, reptiles and ponds, we help to better understand and reduce the pressures affecting this exceptional biodiversity in order to improve its conservation status.

By establishing and managing 50 quiet zones for wildlife in collaboration with committed local authorities, we aim to reduce disturbances to wildlife and raise awareness among users across 60,000 hectares.

By developing and delivering a regional land strategy for natural spaces in collaboration with land management organisations, the aim is to work together to preserve these areas through coordinated and targeted land initiatives.

 By creating and coordinating a natural environment management hub for the Grand Est region, we strive to foster collaboration among different land managers and strengthen shared expertise.
